The concept of hermaphroditic gender irrevocably etched into the essence of my spiritual being is of alterhuman nature. Challenging and interrogating the scope of "human," it mirrors organisms that both sire and bear young, synthesizes opposing and complimentary forces, and unites womanhood and manhood under a single identity.It has little to do with the patently humanoid experience and concept of an Intersex person. As much as that is part of my experience, the only real common ground I can find there is the alienation from traditional concepts of manhood and womanhood that may have subconsciously biased me toward a mix of the two.No, I will not simply call it something else to make others comfortable. I am tired of running, tired of willingly accepting inevitable shame, and tired of erasing my roots and kin.
I will not compromise.
I will not capitulate.
I was given this name out of love and camaraderie.
